Well, not on the soulful side, but definitely in the house, Dennis Ferrer’s “Hey Hey” did a great damage on the floors and entitled “essential new tune” by Pete Tong. Initially on Dennis’ Objektivity, it later was signed to Defected and released on February 12th (oh yeah how could Simon miss this bomd?). Simple but powerful, intriguing and strictly underground, this is a biggest since the times of DF’s Fish Go Deep’s The Cure & The Cause remix.

Among numerous bootlegs coming out these days it’s nice to have something officially released. Defected’s daughter label Code Red run by the one and only DJ Spen signed up French hot-on-demand Yass with his new single “When Doves Cry“. Released on April 20th, and being highly driving tune, it also gets treatments from MuthaFunkaz and Thommy & Spen that makes it instant hot release. As seen on Defected WMC sampler.
Another soul classic from 1980s gets treatment by house masters. Glenn Jones’ “Show Me” was re-worked by Degrees Of Motion and vocalized by Billy Porter. The man behind Degrees Of Motion is Richie Jones who is responsible for loads dance music productions including Jennifer Lopez’ “Waiting For Tonight”.
