Well, not on the soulful side, but definitely in the house, Dennis Ferrer‘s “Hey Hey” did a great damage on the floors and entitled “essential new tune” by Pete Tong. Initially on Dennis’ Objektivity, it later was signed to Defected and released on February 12th (oh yeah how could Simon miss this bomd?). Simple but powerful, intriguing and strictly underground, this is a biggest since the times of DF’s Fish Go Deep’s The Cure & The Cause remix.

Ralf Gum continues a series of collaboration with African-infused musicians, this time with trumpeter, composer and producer from New York Kafele again. A new GoGo Music single from them, numbered 40th, comes on February 08th. “Complicated” is a smooth harmonious affair with mild male vocals and trumpet. Remixes comes from Raw Artistic Soul (so deep but very intriguing in its beauty, really), DJ Christos and Kafele himself.

It’s a long time we haven’t heard from Israeli Avi Elman (aka UPZ) and his label soWHAT. The new release comes on January 14th: South Africa’s Qness with vocals of Malehloka sung in Zulu language with a chilled beautiful soulful affair named “Uzongilinda” which means “You will wait for me” in Zulu. Story tells that it was first heard by Avi Elman on Qness’s MySpace and immediately picked up for his label. The package includes 15 (omg) tracks with remixes from UPZ himself (very nice soulful), Abicah Soul (also unexpectedly soulful), and a bunch of deeper ones: from Rancido (Dutch), Euan Mitchell (British), and Sbonza, Infinite Boys, Mindlo (all three from SA as well).
