Reel People – Alibi (Dennis Ferrer Remixes)

UK band Reel People presented their second album “Seven Ways To Wonder” earlier this year. Being a great follow-up for their critically acclaimed debut “Second Guess”, second one brings lots of new ingredients, musicians and solid soul flava.

Taken from the full album, singles are now being released with a variety of remixes. On April 11th, Papa Records dropped another version of “Alibi“, this time with two new mixes by the major house talent that is Dennis Ferrer.

Having already won support from Pete Tong, ‘DF’s Out On Bail Mix’ takes the warm vocals of New York underground soul luminary Darien and marries them to a deep, techy mix, offering the perfect balance of light and dark. Bouncy, jerky drums sit on top of a wobbly, lurching bassline and wildpitch-style synth stabs. ‘DF’s Out On Bail Instrumental’ takes the track down a murky alleyway, adding pitched-down 303 squelches, a winsome melody played on what sounds like a synthesised melodica, and moody, organ-like stabs.

Inexplicably staying in Top-10 at Traxsource.com for several weeks, this one is seems to be really dark but still worth having in CD wallet for those “deep sh#t” moments in the club.
