Nomumbah feat. Nadirah Shakoor – Like A Rainbow
Categories: Releases. Trackback. It’s no secret I tend to play more chilly and loungy house these days. Well, I still love those dancy soulful move-ya-feet tunes, but such mellow and luscious really touch my soul. One of such tracks was released on January 7th 2008 by Germany’s Sonar Kollektiv. It was established by Jazzanova in 1998 and since then revealed many wonderful artists and releases, besides Jazzanova themselves.
“Just Like a Rainbow” is a track by Brazilian’s Amanita, it was composed in Germany and featured at “Paz e Futebol” compilation by Sonar Kollektiv released in 2006 to celebrate the World Cup. Its lyrics represent the philosophy of the label going “In a minute or just a day all my dream may have passed away and the music would still be there forever in my heart“.
To give this beautiful track a second life, Sonar Kollektiv crew gave it to another Brazilian band producing a soulful music with many influences ranging from broken beats and jazz to house and Latin – Sao Paulo’s trio called Nomumbah. Besides DJing member, this is actually instrumental band with Ale Reis on board and keys, Andre Torquato on guitar and keys and Rafael Moraes on percussion and organic things. They released their debut album “Love Moves” on Osunlade’s outfit Yoruba Records in 2007. Their version of “Like a Rainbow” is a great deep house cut with organic latin rhythms and heavenly layers of strings flourishing on top, plus gorgeous vocal of Nadirah Shakoor. She’s performed for thousands at such mega concert events like Woodstock, was lead female vocalist of the ground breaking hip hop group Arrested Development, and collaborated with Osunlade in the house music territory.
